The distance is 13.2 miles and we will be looking to maintain an average speed of greater than 3mph excluding the stops. This is not difficult provided we maintain a consistent pace.The walk begins from the car park near to the Hackpen White Horse on the road north west out of Marlborough called Free’s Avenue, on the way to Broad Hinton and Wootton Bassett, SN4 9NR / SU130747. From there we will walk north east up the Ridgeway to Barbury Castle, before turning south down the gallops to cross the road and then go west at Old Eagle. We will join the Herepath or Green Street towards Avebury, where we will have lunch at the Red Lion PH, a distance of about 10 miles. This is a long and fast walk as requested by the group to see if we want to stretch ourselves a bit more! The distance is 15.7 miles and we will be looking to maintain an average speed of greater than 3mph excluding the stops. This is not difficult provided we maintain a consistent pace.The walk begins from the NT car park at Lardon Chase west of Streatley on the B4009, RG8 9AF/ SU583806. From there we will walk north across the Golf Course to pick up the Ridgeway west. We follow this until we go south near Blewbury Down, through Compton via New Farm turning east towards Aldworth, where we will have lunch at the Bell PH, a distance of about 10 miles. After lunch we will go south east down towards Ashampstead, before turning north up White Hill, Bowler’s Copse, Stitchens Green and returning to the car park. 15.7 miles15.7mile / 25.3kmModerate
