Minutes of West Berks Ramblers AGM

held at 7.30pm on Friday 11th November 2016 at Mencap Centre, Enborne Gate, Newbury

Apologies: Tony Vickers, Martha Vickers, Jan Malsingh, Sue Gore, Eddy Lerpiniere, Maureen Atkins, Brian Atkins, Pauline Phillips.

Attendees: 29 members including committee

Minutes: The minutes of the 2015 AGM were accepted as correct – Proposed Sue Pepper Seconded Chris Reynolds.

Chairman’s Report: available online.

In response to Graham’s comments about car sharing and central Newbury parking:

  • Alan Dowdell noted that there was a commercially managed car park on West Street (on the west side, north of Camp Hopson Funerals) that currently still charged £1.00 for all-day Sunday parking.
  • Shona Kelly suggested that using the car park at Shaw House might be an option.

Election of Officers and Committee Members: 

Graham Smith stood down as Chairman, Fred Carter and Carol Andrews resigned from the committee.

Stephen Ormrod was elected as Chairman - Proposed Graham Smith Seconded Fiona Walker

Ann Cloud was re-elected as Treasurer - Proposed Graham Smith Seconded Jane Pike

The remaining existing committee was re-elected en block - Proposed Graham Smith, Seconded Kath Carter

It was noted that two member who could not be present had indicated that they might be prepared to join the committee – this would be discussed with them and they would be co-opted if appropriate.

AOB:

Steve Ormrod asked what had been the outcome of the survey on possible social activities that Carol Andrews had undertaken – he was advised that Carol still had this information.

Gill Kedgley requested that members returned the Christmas Party Forms to her ASAP and pleaded for members to provide some form of entertainment.

The meeting closed at 9.15 and the members then joined the committee for wine and cheese
