MAPS

The best general-purpose maps for walking in the countryside of West Berkshire are the Ordnance Survey's 1:25,000 scale Explorer maps.

This chart shows the ones covering West Berkshire and the areas nearby where we regularly walk, and their approximate relationship to each other.

Click on a cover image (or on the text link for other maps) to find out the publication date of the latest edition.  This will take you to the Ordnance Survey Map Shop details for the map, though note that rights of way information is not always brought up to date when only minor revisions are made.

The maps can be borrowed from many libraries and are available in bookshops, tourist information centres etc. as well as online.
